That'd Be Alright

Need a little cheer? Need a little optimism? Well, you've come to the right place!

I love this song by Alan Jackson. Although the music video is pretty funny, I am showing this video so we can focus on the lyrics. The little things he's talking about are "joys" in our journey.

Such a classic.
(sorry about the ads)

Joys make life a little bit better. So, why do we complain with what we've got? Because life really isn't all that bad :)

"Hey Baby, Let's Go to Vegas...

...kiss the single life good-bye!" If you know what song that is then I am very impressed. Well, guess where I'm a'going! Yep, I guess I already gave it away. Las Vegas!

Nope, not eloping (got no one to elope with). Nope, no gambling (got no cash to gamble). Nope, no posting this week (got no time). I'm leaving Wednesday and I'll be back on Saturday. Pretty much cutting the Girl's Camp prep in half. But I think it will be worth it. I've only driven through Vegas a couple of times. I've never just gone for a trip. I'm way excited to watch the Bellagio water shows, stay in the Stratosphere, and just get away for a few days! Wish me luck!

And the song is "Let's Go to Vegas" by Faith Hill. If you knew that then I just might love you. What a great song.

A Really Fun Game

Two or more players required
Materials needed:
-something that plays music (laptop, iPod, etc)
-a variety of music

How to play:
Designate one person to be the Music Selector and the remaining players to be the Guessers. The Music Selector will then proceed to quiz the Guessers on a variety of music using any of the above music players.
For example, the Music Selector may choose to use YouTube on their laptop. He/She will select a song and turn up the volume for the other players to hear, but not see the screen. The Guessers will then proceed to guess the song title, artist, year, or movie it is from (if applicable).
Rewards such as candy or bragging rights may be distributed as Guessers answer correctly. You may choose to take turns being the Music Selector, but it is not required. Be sure to include a variety of songs from different genres and different years to keep the game interesting.

Variations:
-If an electronic music player is not available, the Music Selector may choose to whistle or hum a song.
-This game can also be played in the car while using the radio.
-If a large variety is too difficult or uninteresting, you may choose to go with a theme like Disney songs or number one hits from the day you were born.

This game is perfect for Family Home Evening. It also goes great with a large dose of family vacation.

Change

I'm finding that what I post in Facebook gets expanded here. Once again, I am going to expand on a link I posted on Facebook. Yesterday, Sunday, was such a good day. I was busy and happy. It was such a liberating day for me. This song, "Feels Like Today" by Rascal Flatts is exactly what I was feeling. Here are the lyrics:

I woke up this morning
With this feeling inside me that I can't explain
like a weight that I've carried
Been carried away, away

But I know something is coming
I don't know what it is
But I know it's amazing, you save me
My time is coming
And I'll find my way out of this longest drought...

It feels like today I know
It feels like today I'm sure
It's the one thing that's missin'
The one thing I'm wishin'
Life's sacred blessin' and hey
It feels like today
Feels like today

You treat life like a picture
But it's not a moment thats frozen in time
It's not gonna wait
Til you make up your mind, at all

So while this storm is breaking
While there's light at the end of the tunnel
Keep running towards it
Releasing the pressure, that's my heartache
Soon this dam will break

And it feels like today I know,
it feels like today, I'm sure
It's the one thing that's missin'
The one thing you're wishin'
Life's sacred blessin' and hey,
It feels like today

Feels like, feels like your life changes
Feels like, feels like your life changes

It's the one thing that's missin'
The one thing you're wishin'
Life's sacred blessin' and hey,
It feels like today

Feels like, feels like your life changes
Feels like, feels like your life changes

Here is the music video:

We've all experienced change. None of us can escape it. I'm sure you can think right now about all the changes in your life. I used to really hate change, and I do to some degree. Although I've experienced change in the past, I have been bombarded with change ever since I accepted that high school diploma. Some great, some not so great. All of them good for me (I guess). However, in the last year, I have embraced change more than I ever have before. Not a ton of embracing, but more than usual.

I feel like yesterday was a new refreshing start. My life is changing. I'm not sure how or when exactly, but I know it is. I am on the edge of new chapters and new stories. It is a bit scary, but a bit more exciting. Feels kinda good.
